Intensive English Welcome Note

Hello,

Welcome to CR Languages. Before you begin your first class, we would like to outline a few important details and try to answer some commonly asked questions.

First and foremost, we would like to remind everyone to be respectful and patient in class, both with yourself and with others. Learning a language is not an easy task, and everyone learns differently. Adopting the correct attitude in class is very important, and with time, everyone will become more comfortable. It’s vital to remember that in order to learn, we must all make mistakes – and learning is much more fun when we can laugh at our own mistakes. Please take a moment to review our classroom rules to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn and have an enjoyable experience.

The length of your course depends on the number of students who are enrolled in it. Courses with three or more students will be three hours long, while a course with two students will be shortened to two-and-a-half hours. Courses with just one student will last for two hours.

We recognize that everybody has busy lives and may not always be able to attend class. If you need to miss a class, please let us know as early as possible. In the event that you are the only student in the course and are late to class, you have 20 minutes to arrive before that class will be considered canceled. Should you miss two classes in a row without contacting us, you will automatically be unenrolled from the course.

Final exams will occur during your last scheduled class. Students enrolled in the full, four-week long course are required to take the exam. If you are in a two- or three-week long course, the final exam is optional – but you must let us know by the end of your first week if you’d like to take it. There is no exam for students enrolled for one-week. Students who do not pass their final have the option of retaking it with the approval of their instructor; however, if you had a lot of trouble with the course, you should consider taking the level again.

We will be closed on certain holidays throughout the year. Please take a look at the holiday schedules posted in your classroom or our visit the contact page of our website for exact dates. If you have a class that is scheduled to fall on a holiday, it will be skipped and class will resume on the next weekday.

If you need to speak with administration, pick up books, make a payment, etc., administrative hours for the office are Monday through Friday, from 1:30 to 5:30. Email is usually the best way to get in touch with us.

In class, you may use occasional handouts, photocopies, or other materials in addition to the course book. While you will be given some of these, please know that we are unable to give out extras or copies of CDs due to copyright laws. Furthermore, we cannot lend supplementary materials out – they are for in-class use only.

In a constant effort to improve the language courses offered at CR Languages, you may be asked to provide feedback during your course. You can also provide feedback at any time using the online form found here.

As always,  if you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know.

Thank you,
CR Languages
