CR Languages offers several different options for those wanting to learn Italian, including small group Italian classes, custom and private Italian classes. Below you will find more information about the different options available, the curriculum and materials used, and the instructor.
CR Languages specializes in exclusive group Italian classes for adults.
- Standard group classes meet one evening per week from 5:30-7:30 for 16 weeks.
- Exclusive class sizes of 4-5 students ensure that no one falls through the cracks, and allows the instructor to provide individual attention to each student.
- Students are assigned homework, are expected to study outside of class, and take a final exam at the end of the course.

Unless a complete beginner, all students must take a placement test. The test allows us to be sure that you are placed in a class that challenges you, but does not overwhelm you. The test takes about 45 minutes to complete and consists of a written and oral component. There is a $20 fee to take a placement test, which is then discounted from the classes if you decide to enroll. Given the limited number of courses available, there is no guarantee that a course will be available for your corresponding level. If you would like to schedule a placement test, please get in touch!
CR Languages also offers private instruction and custom courses for small groups. Private and custom courses must take place during the day, between 9:00 and 5:00, Monday through Thursday. A private class may be a good fit for someone who cannot attend in the evening, has very specific goals, or who cannot commit to a 16-week group class. For those interested in taking lessons with more than one person, it would be considered a ‘custom group’ class. Please contact us to inquire about availability and current pricing.
Not in Boise? Private lessons can also be arranged via Skype using the same materials and curriculum.
Below are some basic descriptions about our methodology and the curriculum. For more information about our methodology and learning a language, see the resource page for learning a language.
The foundation of every class at CR Languages is a ‘full-immersion’ methodology, which means English is used as little as possible in class and students are challenged to begin speaking on day one. Students learn grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, pronunciation, reading, and writing. Every instructor at CR Languages has native fluency in the language and the culture, which makes the learning experience truly authentic. Classes at CR Languages are very challenging and very effective.
The Italian curriculum at CR Languages blends grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening all together. Students will use a course book in the class which is imported from Italy and does not contain any English. Students will have a lot of practice in class, and will take quizzes to refresh and reinforce what they are learning, and identify areas that need more work. There is also a final exam at the end of each level.
Italian and French Instructor
Coming from Milan, Alessandra has an innate passion for language which led her to pursue a degree in translation and French. She is excited to be living in Boise and is even more excited about sharing the French and Italian culture with her students. Alessandra’s favorite parts about French and Italian culture are the arts and history, the beauty of the cities and villages riddled with history, and the adaptation of old traditions. She loves laughing about stereotypes and surprising students with insight into the culture. When Alessandra isn’t teaching French or Italian, you can find her studying other languages, or spending time with family and friends.
Alessandra’s mantra? ‘Il mondo è bello perché é vario.’
