Our Policies
The following policies apply to all of the classes that we offer at CR Languages.
Since participation in our classes is voluntary, participation implies acceptance of these terms of service. Students also agree to these terms of service upon enrollment.

General Policies
CR Languages accepts cash, checks, bank transfer, all major credit/debit cards, as well as PayPal.
Any student that has studied the target language before must take a placement test. There is a $50 fee to take a placement test which is discounted from classes if the student decides to enroll. The $50 fee is not credited for placement tests if the instructor must be present, such as for Chinese or Russian. If a placement test is not eligible to be discounted from the cost of courses, this will be communicated to you by CR Languages staff.
The test results and the validity of the $50 credit, if applicable, are good for 6 months. After that time, the student will need to retake the test and pay the $50 fee again. Given varying schedules and availability, there is no guarantee that classes will be available for the student’s level. Placement tests must be prearranged. They are administered in our offices in downtown Boise or online.
A course book and materials will be used in each class. Course books are generally available for purchase in our office. If they are not available in our office, we will provide the ISBN number to students so that they can purchase it elsewhere. Course materials are non refundable once the student has taken possession of them.
Any student participating in a class authorizes CR Languages to take their photo and use it in our marketing materials.
Instructors are subject to change without notice.
While we understand that students may have preferences, instructors will change. This offers variety, improves quality and over site, different cultural interactions, and simply a different perspective.
In some cases, scheduling conflicts may also prevent an instructor from teaching a particular lesson.
Group Classes
In order to enroll in a group class, students must fill out the online registration form, sign an enrollment agreement, and make full payment for the course. Payment in full is required in order to reserve a spot in the class, unless a pre-arrranged payment plan has been agreed upon beforehand. In which case, the first payment is required to reserve a spot in the class.
Students must attend at least 75% of the course. For standard group classes, that means students can miss a maximum of 4 of the 16 classes. If a student cannot maintain a 75% attendance rate, they must schedule private lessons in order to keep pace with the class or withdraw. If a student misses more than two classes in a row, they may also be required to schedule supplemental private lessons. Private lessons must take place during normal business hours and are subject to instructor availability and the normal policies associated with private/custom classes (see below).
Missing classes:
There are no refunds or discounts available for missed classes. If a student misses a class, they may email [email protected] to receive the homework assignment for the next class.
A final exam will be administered on the last day of class. The exam is optional, but passing the exam is required in order to continue on to the next level. If a student cannot take the final exam on the scheduled day, they may arrange to take the exam on a different day. If a student wishes to take the final exam on a different day, it must be taken in our office during business hours, may be a different exam, and the student must score at least a 75% to move onto the next level.
In order for a student to pass a course and continue onto the next level they must maintain a 75% attendance rate or attend sufficient supplemental private lessons. The student must also pass the final exam with a 70% or a 75% if the exam is taken on a different day than usual. If a student fails an exam, they may retake it with the instructor’s approval. Exams must be taken either during the scheduled time (the last class of the course) or during regular administrative hours.
At CR Languages, we strive to balance intimate class sizes, affordability, and instructor compensation. These components are fundamental to fulfilling our mission of creating engaging and enlightening cross cultural experiences for anyone who is committed to learning. All of our classes are capped at 10 students per class, we strive to keep administrative operations as lean as possible, and instructors are compensated based on student enrollment. When a student withdraws from a group or cancels their enrollment, it jeopardizes the financial viability of our small-classroom model, affects instructor compensation, and also creates additional administrative burden for our small team. For this reason, we kindly request that when students enroll, they are committed to finishing their course.
The following cancelation and refunds policies have been created in accordance with ACCET standards as they relate to each type of course that we offer.
Group Class Cancelation and Refund Policy
Unless otherwise specified, group classes refer to any courses in a group setting open to the public to enroll that are less than 100 clock hours. This includes the foreign language classes offered on a semester basis, as well as the Part-Time Intensive English option. Tuition and fees for group classes are due before the class begins. The start and end date of the course are considered the period of obligation.
If a student must withdraw their enrollment, the following refund schedule will apply:

- This policy has been created as per ACCET standards to be fair and equitable for shorter courses (less than 300 clock hours).
- Refunds will be calculated and processed within 45 days of cancelation and refunded back to the student’s original form of payment.
- Credit card transaction fees, if applicable, will be deducted from the refund.
- Fees for placement tests are not refundable. If that fee was discounted from your course costs, it will not be included in the refund.
- Course materials are not refundable once the student takes possession.
- Should CR Languages cancel a course for any reason, a full refund will be given with no fees or charges withheld.

- Course materials are not refundable once a student takes possession.
- Should CR Languages cancel a course for any reason, a full refund will be given with no fees or charges withheld.
- In calculating any prorated refund, attendance of a partial week is considered attendance of a full week.
Private /Custom Classes
In order to enroll in private or custom classes, students must fill out a short form with their contact information, accept the terms of service (these policies), make payment for the first month of classes and a prepayment for the last month of classes. Payment in full is required in order to confirm a schedule. Enrollment must be completed 10 days before the first scheduled class. Classes must be taken in consecutively.
Private and custom classes are billed on a 4-week (monthly) cycle. Upon enrollment, students pay for the first month of classes and prepay for the last month of classes. Payment for the following month of classes is due on the last class of the previous billing cycle. When a student wishes to discontinue classes, they should provide notice at the beginning of their last billing cycle so that their prepayment for the last month of classes can be used. If a student fails to provide enough notice before discontinuing classes, they will forfeit their prepayment. Delinquent accounts are subject to a late fee of $35 and their schedule may be made available to other students.

Private and custom classes are one-on-one or custom small-group classes scheduled on a recurring basis. They are offered in two options:
- Non-flexible: online only, on a fixed recurring schedule, at the non-flexible rate. Missed classes cannot be rescheduled.
- Flexible: in person or online, on a recurring schedule at the flexible rate, which allows one rescheduled class per billing cycle (see Missed Classes and Rescheduling).
Current rates for each option are listed on our website and on the student’s enrollment agreement.
Tuition is invoiced in advance every 4 weeks. Payment for each billing cycle is due before the cycle’s first class. Each 4-week billing cycle is a separate period of obligation. Classes must be taken consecutively and are not transferable to another person, another language, or another type of class at CR Languages. Delinquent accounts are subject to a $35 late fee, and their class time may be made available to other students.
Registration Fee and Final-Cycle Deposit: At sign-up, students pay a deposit equal to one billing cycle of tuition. If a student gives at least 30 days’ notice before their last class, the full deposit is applied to their final billing cycle. If not, up to $500 is kept as a non-refundable registration fee, and any amount above $500 is refunded within 45 days. The same applies if a student cancels before their first class.
If a student must withdraw, the following refund schedule applies to each billing cycle:

Missed Classes and Rescheduling: Missed classes are not refunded and count as absences. Students may let us know they will miss a class by emailing [email protected].
- Non-flexible classes cannot be rescheduled.
- Flexible classes: one class per billing cycle may be rescheduled if the student emails [email protected] at least 24 hours before the class, during regular business hours.
Classes Canceled by CR Languages: If CR Languages or the teacher cancels a class, the student is offered a makeup class. If a makeup cannot be arranged, the student is not charged for that class.
Makeup and Rescheduled Classes: The following applies to all makeup and rescheduled classes:
- They must be taken within 3 months of the original class date and before the student’s last paid class.
- They cannot be scheduled at the same day and time as the student’s regular class, and students may have no more than one makeup or rescheduled class in the same week.
- They cannot be booked more than two weeks in advance.
- Time slots offered are not reserved until the student confirms, and the same slots may be offered to other students.
- Once confirmed, a makeup or rescheduled class cannot be rescheduled or canceled again.
- Depending on teacher availability, they may need to be held online, even if the student’s regular class is in person.
- They may be taught by a teacher other than the student’s regular teacher. Students should come with specific goals in mind, such as topics they would like to practice, learn, or have re-explained.
Teachers: If a student’s regular teacher is unavailable, another teacher may cover the class.
Vacation Pause: Once per year, any private or custom student may pause classes for up to two consecutive weeks by notifying [email protected] in advance. Billing pauses with the classes. A pause is not a withdrawal. For absences longer than two weeks, students should withdraw and re-enroll when they return.
Important things to know:

- Refunds will be calculated from the student’s last day of attendance and paid within 45 days of the date the student notifies us or is withdrawn (or within 45 days of the last class, if notice is given in advance), back to the student’s original form of payment.
- Credit card transaction fees, if applicable, will be deducted from the refund.
- Fees for placement tests are not refundable.
- Course materials are not refundable once the student takes possession.
- Students are not charged for school holidays.
- Should CR Languages cancel a student’s classes for any reason, a full refund will be given with no fees or charges withheld.
In order to withdraw or cancel, students are encouraged to inform the office/administration. This can be via email, phone, or verbally. If a student misses two consecutive weeks of classes without notifying our office (approved vacation pauses and school breaks excluded), they will be determined withdrawn, billing will stop, and any refund will be calculated from the student’s last day of attendance using the table above. Any billing cycle that has not yet started is refunded in full.
