Welcome to CR Languages

Welcome to the CR Languages community! We are thrilled to have you join us on this exciting journey. Our mission is to empower people to see the world from a different perspective in order to enrich their lives, appreciate and sympathize with other cultures, and further the benefits of diversity in the world. We accomplish this through effective language training, challenging our students to think in different ways, and facilitating cross-cultural interaction. To support this mission and ensure a consistent, high-quality learning experience for everyone, we have established the following administrative guidelines and policies in accordance with our accreditation through ACCET. They are designed to respect the time and commitment of your classmates and instructors, allowing us to focus on what matters most: helping you succeed in your language goals. We’re here to help you every step of the way!

Information Related to Group Classes

This section outlines the specific policies and guidelines that apply to students enrolled in our group language courses, both online and in-person.

Policies

  • Attendance: Students are expected to miss no more than 4 of the 16 scheduled classes. Students who miss more than two classes in a row or more than four classes total will be required to schedule and pay for make-up lessons to maintain their enrollment. Being late or leaving early more than four times may also count as an absence. Make-up classes must be scheduled and prepaid at least one week in advance.
  • Missed Classes: If you need to miss a class, please send an email to info@crlanguages.com after the class you missed or on the day you will miss it. This is the only way to get the homework and information on what was covered. You can also post a message in the Portal group feed to ask your classmates what you missed. Please send a separate email for each individual class you miss, rather than a list of multiple dates, to ensure we can track the information accurately.
  • Quizzes: You will take several ‘Pop’ quizzes throughout the course. Only students who are physically present for class can take the quiz. In-person students who dial into class remotely on a quiz day will not be able to take it. Quizzes are designed as a tool to help you check your progress and identify areas for improvement. Your quiz scores do not count toward your final grade in the class. As a result, if you miss a quiz, it will not negatively impact your overall performance.
  • Handouts: If a teacher distributes handouts or extra exercises and you miss the class, the teacher is not required to save a copy for you or send it via email. You can, however, ask another student for a copy of theirs.
  • Connecting Remotely: In-person students can request to attend a class remotely. You must send an email to info@crlanguages.com a day or two before the class to request this. Please note that the necessary A/V equipment is limited, so it may not always be possible. If the day you connect remotely is a quiz day, you will not be able to take the quiz.
  • Final Exam: The final exam is mandatory if you wish to continue to the next level. Final exams are held on the last day of class. If you cannot make it, you can reschedule during office hours for an administration fee. This administrative fee is equivalent to two hours of a private lesson, but is offered to you at a 10% discount. In-person students must take their final exam in person; online exams are not available for them. If you do not take the Final Exam, you cannot enroll in the next level, even if you have already paid for it. Also, if you reschedule the exam, it may take longer to receive your final grade, which could cause you to miss the early enrollment discount.
  • Performance Sheets: After your final exam has been graded, you will receive a Performance Sheet via email. This sheet will include a recommendation from your teacher on whether to move to the next level or repeat the current one.
  • Passing a Class: To pass a group class, you must maintain a 70% cumulative score and meet the minimum attendance requirements. The cumulative score is based on: 15% participation, 15% classwork performance, 10% homework completion, and 60% on your final exam performance.
  • Materials for Repeating a Level: We usually use the same book every semester, but if we make a last-minute change, you will have to buy the new material.

Group Class Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • My class has only a few students. Will it continue? We have successfully run classes with as few as two students. To ensure a class continues, it’s best for all interested students to sign up as early as possible. This gives us enough time to confirm a teacher and order books. If we have to cancel a class, you will receive a full refund.
  • I took classes before. Am I a continuing student? A continuing student is one who enrolls in the next level (or repeats a class) in the following semester. If you skipped a semester, you are not considered a continuing student, but you may still be eligible for a new student discount.

Information Related to Private and Custom Classes

This section outlines the specific policies and guidelines for students enrolled in our private and custom classes.

Non-flexible Private and Custom Classes

  • Class Payments: Private classes are non-refundable and billed monthly. There are no rescheduling or refund options if you miss a class. You will not be charged for classes canceled by CR Languages or for classes that fall on a holiday.
  • Withdrawing from a Class: If you wish to stop studying, please provide a 30-day notice prior to your last class. Doing so will allow the registration fee you pay when you sign up to be applied to cover your final classes. In the event that you don’t show up to class for more than 2 weeks without any notice, your classes will be discontinued with no refunds available.
  • Missing a Class: If you know that you are going to miss a class, please let us know by sending an email to info@crlanguages.com, so that the teacher is not waiting for you.
  • Extended Absences: For absences of more than two weeks, you should discontinue your classes and restart them upon your return.
  • Class Transfers: Classes must be consecutive and are not transferable to another person or another language.

Flexible Private and Custom Classes

  • Class Payments: Flexible private classes are non-refundable and are billed in 4-week billing cycles.
    Cancelling and
  • Rescheduling: Flexible private classes allow you to reschedule one class per billing cycle if the class is cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice. The cancellation notice must be received during regular business hours. Please send an email to info@crlanguages.com to cancel a lesson. Instructors are not responsible for scheduling and billing, so you must direct questions and cancellation notices via email to info@crlanguages.com. A rescheduled class must be taken within three months of the original class date.
Withdrawing from a Class: If you wish to stop studying, please provide a 30-day notice prior to your last class. Doing so will allow the registration fee you pay when you sign up to be applied to cover your final classes. In the event that you don’t show up to class for more than 2 weeks without any notice, your classes will be discontinued with no refunds available.
  • Class Transfers: Classes are not transferable. If you are taking classes, you cannot stop studying and “give” your classes to a friend or family member, or transfer them to another language.

सामान्य नीतियाँ

  • Enrollment Letters and Certificates: To receive an enrollment letter, you must have been studying with us for at least six months. The letter will include the student’s initial level, a summary of what was covered, and the total number of classes scheduled and taken. The letter will be issued by CR Languages, not the teacher.
  • Medical-related Refunds: In extreme cases where you or a family member cannot attend due to serious medical issues, an exception may be made to our standard refund policy. A doctor’s note is required, and we will issue a prorated refund minus any credit card processing and placement test fees.
  • Class Audits: We do not permit friends or family to sit in on a class. We believe that class audits are not an effective way to evaluate a course and can be disruptive to enrolled students. For more information, please read our article on the topic here: क्लास ऑडिट क्यों अप्रभावी हैं
  • Holiday Information: Please note that classes do not take place on our published holidays, and you will not be billed for them. We usually send an email and ask teachers to remind students of these dates, but you can always find the most up-to-date holiday schedule on our contact page here: https://crlanguages.com/contact/
  • Official Policies: All of our policies, including those for both group and private classes, are available on our website under the resources section: https://crlanguages.com/resources/our-policies/
  • Additional Resources: You can find more helpful information, including an overview video of the student portal, on our resources page here: https://crlanguages.com/resources/

Communication & The Student Portal

When you enroll, you will create an account on our website to access the Student Portal. You’ll receive an invite to a group for your class, which will also include a CR Languages admin. This group is the hub for communicating with your instructor and any classmates, as well as for sharing documents, photos, and videos.

  • Portal and Virtual Classroom Tutorial: For a helpful tutorial on how to use the Portal and Virtual Classroom, please visit these links: Video Conferencing Help और Student Portal Overview
  • Instructor Communication: Please be aware that not all instructors have alerts and notifications turned on in the Portal. For this reason, they may not see messages or updates until they log in again. For urgent communications, please send an email to info@crlanguages.com.
  • Virtual Classrooms: For online classes, you will have lessons using CR Languages’ video conferencing platform. The link to your virtual classroom is found within your class group in the Student Portal. The virtual classroom works in your browser and does not require any third-party apps.
  • Technical Issues: For online classes, please connect before your class to resolve any technical issues. We are available to help troubleshoot any connection issues at the beginning of your class. If you encounter a technical issue, please call 208-867-8011 by 5:40 PM Mountain Time. If you are unable to reach us, please leave a message and send an email to info@crlanguages.com and we will get back to you. If we cannot reach you and you’re not able to connect, you will be marked absent.
  • Administrative Questions: For any administrative questions, scheduling, or cancellations, please email info@crlanguages.com. Teachers are not responsible for these issues.
  • Language for Communication: Please use English when communicating with the office to avoid confusion, as not everyone in the office speaks all the languages we teach.

प्रशिक्षक

  • Teacher Contact: Teachers are not supposed to share their personal contact information with students. Please respect this policy and use the Student Portal for all communication with your instructor.
  • Changing Instructors: It may be necessary for us to change your instructor, which can happen in both private and group classes. This is often due to the instructor’s personal life and scheduling conflicts. We believe having a new instructor is a valuable opportunity, as it exposes you to different accents and teaching methods, which better prepares you for real-world language use.
  • Complaints: We welcome constructive criticism about your teacher. If you feel your teacher is not suitable, please let us know via email or the contact form on our website. We ask that you consider if the issue is a personal problem, such as not studying enough, before providing negative feedback.

Tips for Success

  • If you want to learn:
    • Come to class.
    • Do your homework and study.
    • If you can’t make it to class, ask for homework.
    • Let the instructor know if you don’t understand.
    • Do not compare yourself to other students; everyone learns at their own pace.
  • You could fall behind if:
    • You should use hearing aids or glasses but don’t use them in class.
    • You miss too many classes.
    • You don’t do your homework.
    • You don’t participate in class because you fear making mistakes.
