At the heart of CR Languages is a quiet force of nature. If you meet Julieta, our Academic Director, you might first notice her introverted side\u2014she isn’t one to demand the spotlight. In fact, this introversion is exactly why we have never featured her in a blog until now. Despite being the person who writes nearly every post you read on this site, she has always preferred to let the languages and the students take center stage.<\/strong> But after 16 years, we decided it was finally time to turn the pen on the author herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Love Affair with Language, from the Very Beginning<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Julieta is from Argentina, and her passion for languages started early. In elementary school, she studied English and fell in love with reading out loud in English. But a lot of her English wasn’t learned in a classroom at all\u2014it was learned at home, singing along to Frank Sinatra, Bon Jovi, Madonna, and whoever else was playing, pretending she was a famous singer. You could say she did it her way\u2014a fitting detail, since “My Way” happened to be one of her dad’s favorite songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, around the age of 16, something clicked\u2014she can’t quite explain what. She simply asked her mom if she would pay for French and Portuguese classes, and just like that, she dove in. During her college years, the obsession only grew: she studied Italian, continued with French and Portuguese, and even took on some German<\/strong>\u2014a language she would later pick up again when she and Roger lived in Austria for a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Serious Pedagogy, Serious Laughter<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Put Julieta in a classroom, and that quiet exterior gives way to one of the most brilliant, engaging Spanish teachers you will ever encounter. Her philosophy is simple: if you aren’t laughing, you aren’t learning<\/strong>. She has a gift for making complex grammar feel light, mostly because she is usually having as much fun as her students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, her kindness isn’t a sign of infinite patience for everyone. Julieta has a famously low tolerance for rudeness. She is a champion for the kind-hearted, the curious, and the nice\u2014no matter their age. To her, a classroom should be a sanctuary for good people to grow together.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Scholar’s Desk (and the Dance Floor)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Julieta is a “true” academic, which means she lives in a world of ink and paper.<\/strong> She is famous for taking over every available square inch of her house with towering piles of books and notes. If you ever need a pen, she is the person to ask\u2014she is known for having at least 20 of them in her purse at any given moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But don’t let the piles of books fool you; Julieta’s world is far from quiet. She is absolutely obsessed with music. She listens to it loud, and you might find her dancing in her office, her car, or wherever the beat takes her. Music is such a priority that it is nearly impossible to get her out of the house if one of her favorite songs happens to be playing\u2014she simply has to hear it through to the end!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roger: The Digital Rescue Squad<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This brings us to Roger, her husband, business partner<\/strong>, and the man tasked with the monumental challenge of bringing Julieta into the modern world. While Julieta is happy living in a world of handwritten manuscripts and loud music, Roger is the tech-forward visionary trying to save her from her own analog habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The struggle is real. Not long ago, Roger discovered Julieta’s “security system”: a tiny, weathered scrap of paper tucked into her wallet with a chaotic list of every password she owned. After watching her struggle through “Access Denied” screens one too many times, Roger staged an intervention. He moved her to a password manager to rescue her from the “Scrap of Paper Era.” He is the digital anchor to her creative whirlwind\u2014the nicest person in the world, and the only one who can reliably find her files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Legacy in Print<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since founding CR Languages in 2010, Julieta hasn’t just managed the school; she built its DNA. She developed the curriculum for every single language we offer<\/strong>, having authored:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    And she never stops improving. Julieta recently decided to revisit and edit her entire Espanhol com Julieta<\/em> book series. She just finished Introdu\u00e7\u00e3o ao espanhol<\/em>, which is now in design and getting ready to be released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    She is also currently developing a new series of Italian Readers and a specialized French Intro book. When you study here, you are using a system meticulously designed by a woman who has personally studied many of the languages she oversees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Life at Home: Kids, Doodles, and Joy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Behind the books, the pens, and the password resets is the family that keeps her grounded. She is “crazy” about her two children, Jude and Lola<\/strong>, who\u2014in her totally unbiased opinion\u2014are the best kids in the entire world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Then, there are the “insane” members of the family: Pickle and Rocky<\/strong>. These two Goldendoodles are the most chaotic dogs on the planet, according to Julieta. Yet, they are her morning spark. They are the reason she wakes up in a good mood every day (usually to a loud soundtrack), and she truly couldn’t imagine life without them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Roger handles the digital world so Julieta can keep her piles of paper, and together, they’ve spent the last 16 years building a school where language, music, and laughter go hand-in-hand.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
