We often have requests from students to sit-in on or ‘try out’ a class before signing up. This is something that we have never allowed and I want to take a quick moment to explain why.<\/p>\n
Firstly, our class sizes are very small and having a new person join\u00a0for one class is, quite frankly, obtrusive. It disrupts the flow of the class and makes other students feel uncomfortable. It’s unfair to our paying students to subject their classroom time to that.<\/p>\n
Secondly, and most importantly, it is impossible to form an accurate opinion of a class, an instructor, or a curriculum after just one or two lessons. It takes time to understand, appreciate, and evaluate the quality of any language program. Indeed, many things go on in a class that may vary or change according to each lesson.<\/p>\n
The reality is that learning another language is a very long and difficult endeavor.\u00a0To learn it effectively takes hundreds of hours of exposure and practice. Since opening our doors in 2010, we’ve had over 700 students sit in our classrooms, and have thousands of hours of teaching experience. One of the many things we’ve learned along the way is that most people don’t actually know what they need to do in order to learn another language. Of course, there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, that’s the very reason we’re here.<\/p>\n
